Simeticone, a surface-active substance, is a mixture of liquid dimeticones consisting of finely divided silicon dioxide to increase the defoaming effects of silicone. It lowers the surface tension of the intestinal mucous therefore, disperses and prevents gas pockets in the gastrointestinal system.
